We built an innovative mobile-web platform, accessible via QR code, that facilitates the seamless purchase of personalised coffee vouchers to help people show they care.
Gotcha Coffee enables people to gift a coffee to friends, family or colleagues to say thanks, congratulations, sorry, or just to show they’re thinking about them. Sending money can seem impersonal, and traditional gift vouchers can be limiting. Gotcha Coffee wanted to create a quick, easy and accessible way for people to make a kind gesture.
The challenge
We worked with Gotcha Coffee to design and develop a really cool mobile-web based product that streamlines the process of gifting a coffee. It works by enabling users to quickly and easily purchase a personalised coffee voucher, valid in a number of coffee shops throughout London, via a mobile optimised web app accessed via a QR code.
Once the voucher has been purchased, the user can send the voucher directly to their friend or family member via WhatsApp, SMS, or email.
The solution

The user is provided with a link that can be copied and sent to the recipient via SMS, WhatsApp, or email. The recipient can access the voucher by opening the link and can then see an interactive map of locations where they can claim their coffee.
Redeemable throughout multiple coffee shops
We created a web based solution where participating coffee shops are able to scan the voucher to redeem it.

Users are able to scan a QR code on a coffee cup, poster, or label and are taken to a web page where they enter their details, the details of the recipient, and purchase the voucher via a Stripe / Apple / Google Pay integration.

Our approach
After conducting our initial scoping, Gotcha Coffee looked to be a textbook example of a product concept that can be developed for testing in a fraction of the time and cost by using a lowcode approach. We were able to deliver the entire web-app through Bubble.io, with a Stripe plugin to facilitate payment.
By using this approach, Gotcha Coffee was able to prove the product concept without a large price tag, deploy a highly iterative solution that could be adapted quickly based on feedback, and launch the first product in just two weeks.
